Gaisce – The President’s Award

Gaisce PAL – Ms. Kennington

Our Lady of Lourdes is a registered Gaisce Award Partner and actively supports young people who wish to take part in the President’s Award. The programme encourages participants to challenge themselves through four areas of personal development: Personal Skill, Physical Recreation, Community Involvement and an Adventure Journey. The school provides opportunities in each area, helping students choose suitable activities, record their progress and reflect on what they achieve.

Participants work under the guidance of their President’s Award Leader (PAL), who offers advice, supervises their development plan and ensures that all requirements are met. Over the years, a significant number of students have completed their Bronze and Silver awards, and several have continued to the Gold level, showing long-term commitment and leadership.

The school’s involvement with Gaisce strengthens its focus on character development, community engagement and practical learning beyond the classroom, giving students a structured way to build confidence, independence and resilience.
