Rugby
Contact: Ms. Lynam & Ms. Kennington
Rugby is offered as an extracurricular sport at Our Lady of Lourdes, giving students the opportunity to experience the game in a supportive and developmental setting. The school regularly takes part in local rugby blitzes, including touch-to-tackle taster sessions supported by the New Ross rugby development officer. These sessions introduce the basic skills of the game in a controlled format, helping students build confidence while learning correct technique and game awareness.
Senior rugby blitzes are also organised throughout the year, allowing older students to progress to a more competitive level. Participation encourages teamwork, physical fitness and communication, while giving students a chance to try a new sport that may not be part of their normal physical activity.
All students are welcome, regardless of experience. The focus is on learning, participation and enjoyment rather than performance alone.
